Each Community Tax Center volunteer must submit a signed copy of the IRS Volunteer Agreement prior to preparing tax returns.

This agreement outlines the volunteer code of conduct. By signing, volunteers agree to:

  • Treat all taxpayers professionally, courteously, and respectfully
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of taxpayer information
  • Apply the tax laws equitably and accurately to the best of their ability
  • Only prepare returns within the scope of their training and experience
  • Exercise reasonable care in the use and protection of equipment and supplies
  • Not solicit business from taxpayers they assist
  • Not accept payment for the services they provide
